6/1/2023 0 Comments Dodgers magic number 2019When the playoffs and the NL West finally are clinched, a big party probably won't ensue. The Dodgers held a quiet clubhouse celebration after Sunday's game before learning of the error. "I've been on some teams early in my career that didn't have this opportunity, so I definitely feel fortunate to be a part of an organization that cares about winning and puts winning first." ![]() "I don't think it's anything you can take for granted," Turner said. Once the Dodgers officially clinch, he will be part of a postseason team for the ninth straight season, something he highly appreciates. Veteran third baseman Justin Turner hit two homers - one a grand slam - and drove in five runs. Los Angeles thought it had become the first team to clinch a playoff berth this season with an 11-2 rout of the Padres on Sunday. They could wrap up the NL West as soon as Tuesday. The Dodgers (96-43) still have a magic number of two to clinch the division title due to their 20-game lead over the second-place San Diego Padres. ![]() With a victory, they also will move closer to securing the National League West championship. ![]() A win, or a Milwaukee Brewers loss, will get them in. Now, on Monday night, they will look to clinch a postseason berth - again - when they face the Arizona Diamondbacks at Phoenix. 6/1/2023 0 Comments Chequebook 18th century![]() ![]() ![]() Money accounts in the colonies were almost always kept in pounds, shillings, and pence: twelve pence to a shilling and twenty shillings (240 pence) to a pound. The first dollar coins were issued by the United States in 1794, modeled on the Spanish dollar. However, by the time he had the plan in place in August 1783, the end of the war, the scarcity of silver bullion, and the need to economize on congressional expenses combined to scuttle the project. Shortly after the Articles of Confederation took effect on 1 March 1781, Robert Morris, the superintendent of finance, began to make plans to establish a mint, an authority given to Congress by Article 9. The only coins minted during the war were the Continental dollars of 1776 (six thousand in pewter, many fewer in brass and silver) and a handful of Massachusetts and New Hampshire patterns the new nation relied almost entirely on various forms of paper money as its circulating currency until 1780, when specie became more plentiful. It has been estimated that the money supply in 1775 amounted to over twelve million dollars, about four million in paper currency and the rest, perhaps as much as ten million dollars, in specie.Īfter 1775 the high demand for all metals and the flood of new paper currency combined to drive specie out of circulation. Britain monitored the paper bills of credit issued thereafter by the colonies, most closely in New England, an effort that generally kept the depreciation of the currency under reasonable control. Paper money was produced in the colonies for the first time in 1690, when Massachusetts printed twenty-shilling bills of credit to pay for the expedition against Canada. Spanish coins, most of them minted in the New World, eventually predominated, especially the Spanish milled dollar or piece of eight, a silver coin about the size of a modern silver dollar. The value of these coins was based on intrinsic value, fineness, and weight, the latter being affected by wear and sometimes by clipping or other forms of mutilation. In the absence of locally minted coins, many different coins minted by the imperial powers circulated in the British colonies. Britain also discouraged colonial efforts to coin money, like the crude silver pieces minted in Massachusetts between 16, the best-known of which was the Pine Tree shilling, about the size of a modern quarter. Efforts to create a circulating currency were closely regulated by Britain, so the colonists were compelled to use readily available commodities like tobacco as substitutes and to maintain complicated accounts of book debts. The colonies mined no precious metals and, because the cost of imports always exceeded the value of exports, most of the specie that flowed into the colonies flowed back out to Britain to pay for imported goods. A chronic shortage of specie existed in the British colonies before 1775. 6/1/2023 0 Comments Monkey bongo music![]() In the U.S., it was released on the LP Beatles '65. The filter is generating a good yellow hue for the road, so let's turn some attention to the roughness of the surface. This is the equivalent of using layer blending modes in Photoshop. This blends the noise with the brick color and provides a less mechanical appearance by adding a bit of grunge into the brick color. Then map the output of the Perlin Noise node to the Foreground input of the Blend node. In the Perlin Noise settings, set the Roughness to 75 and Contrast to 64. ![]() Click on the Noise category, and drag a Perlin Noise component onto the main workspace. Press the Components button to open a library of component nodes. Click and drag on that arrow to connect it to the input of the Blend node that the Invert node was previously connected to. The right edge of the primary Bricks node has a large green arrow-this is the output of that node. When the node is deleted, the inputs and outputs are broken and need to be remapped. That's the direct opposite of what is needed! The reason for this is the Invert node near the top of the network. Step 6Ĭurrently the Result node shows the bricks as a brilliant blue. This value adds in a bit of imperfection so the arrangement doesn't look quite so mechanically perfect. This adjusts how the brick pattern is situated. The color of the bricks is an integral part of the Yellow Brick Road. It may look intimidating and confusing at first, but it's really quite simple and remarkably easy to use. Press the Filter Editor button and choose the Edit this filter option to begin editing the network of nodes that makes up this filter.
